Non-metallic / Magnetic Boards

What is a Murerase Non-Metallic / Magnetic Board?
Murerase Non-metallic / Magnetic Boards are:
  • Lower cost
  • Lighter weight
  • Dry erase
  • Printed with any art
These boards are a construction that starts with a lightweight substrate.  We usually use a 50 point or 100 point chipboard, but can use a wide variety of substrates such as foam core, hardboard and other proprietary substrates.  We then laminate magnetic sheeting to the substrate to create a magnetic receptive surface.  The finished surface can be printed vinyl or a print with a clear, protective or dry erase film.  Because the board doesn’t require framing, the cost is less, the weight is less and the boards can be attached directly to a wall, refrigerator or handheld.
In addition to the ability to accept a magnet, the boards can be fitted with magnets on the back of the board and will attach to steel surfaces magnetically.

Characteristics:

Sizes: 8.5”x 11” is the most common size for Non-Metallic / Magnetic (NMM) boards.  The limitation in size is that one dimension can be a maximum of 24”.  In addition larger sizes require more substantial substrates and become more expensive.   Handheld sizes are the norm for NMM boards.

Imaging: We can print any art that the customer can imagine.  From simple grids and text to 4-color, high resolution imaging the price for printed boards doesn’t change.  High volume (5,000 and over) orders allow us to use litho printing and cost less.  All our other printing is digital.

Laminates: Since NMM boards are laminated, we can give you a variety of finishes.  We can print directly on to vinyl.  We can add a clear protective film in satin or gloss.  We can, of course, laminate with the highest quality dry erase films available to make our flagship, Murerase boards.

Mounting:
  • We add strip magnets to the back of the board to allow the NMM boards to attach to any steel surface (refrigerators, filing cabinets, work benches, shelving, etc.).
  • The boards can be attached with Velcro® to any non-magnetic surface.
  • The boards are substantial enough that they can be mechanically fastened to any surface.
Miscellaneous:
  • NMM boards can be framed with black, plastic framing if desireable
  • We can make plain or colored boards without printing and with or without film
  • Straight or rounded corners are available
Uses for Non-metallic / Magnetic Boards:

Murerase NMM Boards have been used in a wide variety of applications.  The versatility of mounting, printing and finishing make them a solution for many applications.  These are but a few of the applications we have supplied:
  • Communications Boards:
    • Signage that is magnetic and dry erase
    • Memo Boards
    • Trade show display panels
  • Educational Boards:
    • Lapboards for math, spelling, writing and music
    • Training boards for sports, computers
  • Promotional Boards:
    • Sales training
    • Customer premiums
    • Product introductions
    • Instruction manuals
  • Component Boards:  As part of a package for
    • Emergency response kits
    • Production tracking
    • Equipment maintenance charts
    • Shelf labeling
Limitations:
  • NMM Boards are lower cost and lighter because they do not need to be framed to encase the edge of steel boards.  They are not, however, as substantial as a framed, magnetic Murerase board.  The substrate selected determines the cost and the durability of the board.  See our other Murerase boards that are designed for long term, heavy use (insert link to Custom and Medical pages).
Magnetic sheeting is not as magnetic as steel.  Magnets that are .030”, and .060” will adhere very well to the magnetic sheeting.  Clips and other magnetic attachments will also adhere, but will not carry as much weight (paper, keys, pens) as they will on steel. Check our Magnet Section for more information about magnets that we offer to go with all of our magnetic, dry erase boards (insert link to Magnet Section).
